Workshop on 'The socialisation of the European Research in th perspective of the knowledge society. Interpretations and policies with the contribution of social sciences.'

 

In Brussels, on June 26th 2009, from 9AM ro 1h30PM, a workshop will be hosted by the European Economic and Social Committee. It represents the final step of the project "Social sciences and European Research Capacities " (SS-ERC) carried out in the last three years by a consortium of six European social research institutes, coordinated by the University of Rome Tor Vergata, under the Sixth Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development. This workshop is entitled:

"The Socialisation of the European research in the perspective of the Knowledge Society. Interpretations and policies with the contribution of social sciences"

30th Annual Conference of the IWPLMS: "Social Policy as Productive Factor"

 

The 30th Annual conference of the International Working Party on Labour Market Segmentation will be organized by the LabourNet and University of Tampere

Focus on "Social Policy as a Productive Factor"

September, 3th - 5th 2009, Tampere, Finland

 

There are five main streams:

1. Reinventing the theoretical and political status of labour market
segmentation theory
2. The changing role of social policies as carriers of equity and efficiency
3. Emerging systems of work and welfare
4. Employee voice, trade unions, works councils and social movements
5. Economic risks, risk management and employment protection

This conference is expected to attract a diverse group of participants (researchers, teachers, officials, leaders etc) from around the globe in order to broaden the knowledge of issues and perspectives and share ideas.

Summer School in "Methods and Techniques" - ECPR

 

4th ECPR (European Consortium for Political Research) Summer School in "Methods and Techniques"

 

29th July – 15th August 2009 - Ljubljana, Slovenia

 

The ECPR Summer School in Methods and Techniques provides ECTS accredited up to date training in specially selected methods in the whole spectrum of approaches used in the social sciences. It offers a mix of introductory, intermediate and advanced courses on a range of topics including political game theory, multiple regression analysis, confirmatory factor analysis and working with comparative survey data as well as more qualitative courses on interviewing, focus groups and ethnographic methods.
