Objectives

The PUDISC aims to provide a resource for RECWOWE participants who seek to disseminate and publicise ongoing research. The aim of this action is also to offer an outlet for the publication and review of work in progress, through the establishment and management of the on-line high quality ‘Working Papers’ series. Finally, the PUDISC wants to strengthen the internal cohesiveness and external openness of the Network, for example via the publication of a Newsletter.

The objective of the Publication and Dissemination Centre (PUDISCwowe) is to maximise the efficiency and impact of the RECWOWE Network of Excellence by ensuring effective internal and external communication and publicity of network activities, as well as animating and supporting the publication of knowledge accumulated in the network and in the broader work-welfare research community. The PUDISC will function both as a window onto RECWOWE activities for interested parties outside the network, and as a communication and diffusion resource for those inside it. In this way it will contribute to reinforcing the internal cohesion of the network, while promoting its openness to the broader academic and non-academic community.

The four main tasks of the Publication and Dissemination Centre (PUDISCwowe) will be:

1. internal and external communication,

2. ‘vulgarising’ and publicising network knowledge,

3. directly publishing and diffusing particular research outputs, and

4. indirectly encouraging diffusion of knowledge through the provision of support services to network participants to assist in their publication initiatives.

Over the course of the network activity, the PUDISCwowe will execute these tasks through six instruments. It will:

- build up and administer an exhaustive mailing list of participants

- compile and diffuse a regular electronic newsletter,

- develop and manage a high quality in-house working paper series

- collate and diffuse a file of editorial resources in the network and in the field of work-welfare research,

- host editorial forums

These resources and instruments are available on the PUDISC web pages, designed and managed by the PUDISCwowe in co-operation with EDACwowe and the Coordinator.
