Call for contribution: Special Issue on Gender

Volume 5, Number 2 of the Journal Work Organisation, Labour and Globalisation will focus on:

Gender and the global division of labour.


This issue is due to be published in late 2011

The Journal welcomes contributions that address any aspects of this topic, including:

  • The relationship between the gender division of labour, the tecnical division of labour and the spatial division of labour
  • The relationships between paid and unpaid labour, including 'consumption work' inshapping women's and men's labour market participation
  • Informalisation of labour and gender impacts
  • Gendre and the new global division of labour
  • The role of violence and sexual harassment in reinforcing the power of global corporations and policing the sexual division of labour
  • Critical perspectives on the 'diversity management' perspective of global corporations
  • Gendering of emerging occupational identities
  • Globalization, changing in working time and pressure on work-life balance


Submission of articles

Articles should not exceed 6,000 words and will be subject to double-blind anonymous peer-review

Contributions should be sent in the first instance to Ursula Huws

The deadline for submission is July 31st 2011
