Jon Kvist is now Professor at the University of Southern Denmark (Odense).

 

 Fields of research and interests (key words):

Kvist is author of numerous scientific articles, chapters, research reports, and popular scientific articles. His research interests include EU social policy, comparative welfare state studies, and comparative methodology, especially fuzzy set ideal type analysis.

Involvement in other recent or current research projects, current grants:


Co-founder of ESPAnet - Network for European Social Policy Analysis. He organized its first annual conference in Copenhagen 2003.

Besides that he has organised several international and national research conferences, seminars and workshops, alone and in collaboration with colleagues.

Today Jon is member of Nordic Centre of Excellence on Reassessing the Nordic Welfare Model. He was chair from 1997-2002 of a working group of European researchers on Outcomes, Outputs, and Trajectories of Social Protection Reform that was part of the COST A15 programme Reforming Social Protection Systems in Europe financed by the European Commission. Chair of working group on Nordic welfare state in Europe and before that country coordinator in research project on the Nordic Welfare States in the 1990s in a European Perspective, both projects financed by Nordic Council of Ministers.

In 1994, Visiting Research Fellow at the School of Social Sciences, Bath University, under the EU Human Capital and Mobility Programme. In 1998, Visiting Scholar at Northwestern University , affiliated with the Institute for Policy Research, the Department of Sociology, and the Centre for International and Comparative Studies.

Kvist t
akes part in the public debate through interviews, news paper articles and talks to broader audiences than just researchers.

Referee for various journals.

Affiliated as lecturer to Department of Sociology, Copenhagen University . Winner of the Copenhagen Business School 2002 Teaching Price. Also teaching experience from Bath University , the School of Social Work , Copenhagen , and the Institute of Political Science , Copenhagen University .
