The Directorate for Research in the Economic, Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH) of DG Research of the EC is organising on Tuesday 20 October 2009 in Brussels an Information Day on

the "Social Platform on Sustainable Lifestyles"

(Topic SSH.2010.2.1-4 of the SSH Work Programme 2010, called for under the Call Identifier FP7-SSH-2010-4 published in the OJ C177 of 30 July 2009).

One of the key tasks in the early 21st century is to reconcile the need to reduce the levels of energy and environmental resources and transport services we consume, while at the same time improving the quality of life for all in the context of an ageing society. A social platform on 'sustainable lifestyle' will be supported to define a research agenda in the area driven by societal concerns.

The aim of this information event is to provide information on the topic of the call, on the instrument "social platform" and to allow potential proposers or participants to share project ideas or to present their specific competence for the creation of partnerships for such a supporting activity. The Socio-Economic Sciences and the Humanities Research Programme and its 2010 Work Programme, in the framewok of the 7th research programme of the European Commission will be presented.

Participation in the Info Day is subject to registration, without reimbursment of the costs of travel and accomodation by the European Commission. Due to the limited capacity of the meeting room (max. 70 persons), registrations will be accepted on a "first come-first served" basis until the 16th October 2009.
